Description du projet de recherche

The project aims to investigate the efficiency of the newly developed UHP-FRCM strengthening system to restore the initial flexural strength of severely damaged continuous concrete bridge girders, to upgrade the load carrying capacity of such girders to support higher traffic intensity or to meet new standards requirements without compromising their ductility, to investigate the effect of applying such system on the moment redistribution capacity of continuous girders, to investigate the potential protection against corrosion that UHP-FRCM system can grant. The research is expected to result in a comprehensive understanding of the flexural behavior of severely damaged continuous concrete girders strengthened with UHP-FRCM. Design recommendations and performance-based criteria will be proposed for the effective use of UHP-FRCM strengthening systems in reinforced concrete applications.
