To advance the understanding of the nano- and micromechanical behavior of modern cementitious materials incorporating alternative binders, my project combines high-speed nano-indentation mapping with high-resolution scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). This coupled approach enables a detailed correlation between local mechanical properties and microstructural features such as porosity, phase distribution, and interfacial zones in cement-based materials designed with low-carbon cementitious alternatives. By integrating mechanical mapping and microstructural analysis, the project offers new insights into the complex chemo-mechanical interactions in advanced cementitious systems, ultimately contributing to the design of more durable and sustainable concrete materials.
